2025: Extremist Deepfakes Spur Pivot to AI Security and New U.S. Oversight Bill
Fresh evidence that Islamic State affiliates are mass-producing AI deepfake propaganda pushed U.S. lawmakers to pass a bill in November 2025 ordering annual DHS reports on militant AI threats and, by mid-December, had enterprise and research leaders openly re-orienting AI road-maps around security, privacy and on-prem deployment.
