Tech giants have promised digital valets before—Microsoft’s 1995 ‘Bob’ and Apple’s 2011 Siri could answer questions but never fully act. Meta’s move echoes IBM’s 1964 System/360 bet: a costly architectural overhaul aimed at locking users into one ecosystem for decades.
